This packing list is designed to give you a practical overview of the most important equipment for your Kilimanjaro tour on the Rongai or Marangu route. Due to numerous requests from our customers, we have compiled a short packing list with our recommendations so that you don't have to buy all the expensive products for this one tour or rely on often heavily used or unsuitable rental equipment from tour operators.
For each item, you'll find suitable rental outdoor equipment from Eddy's Adventure, allowing you to start your adventure with tested, high-quality gear. This list is intentionally not exhaustive and does not replace the detailed specifications of your tour operator or your personal packing plan – it serves as a guide to help you supplement and refine your own Kilimanjaro packing list.
Backpack for the daily stages (approx. 30–45 liters):
A trekking backpack with a good carrying system is suitable as a daypack, for example the Gregory Stout 45 Men – trekking backpack for multi-day tours (rental product).

For main luggage, a robust duffle bag such as the " Mountain Equipment Wet & Dry Kitbag " in the appropriate size (rental product) is suitable.

Tents for windy high-altitude camps and more space (2-3 people):
If you want to use your own stormproof tent on your Kilimanjaro tour or other winter and high-altitude trips, the [ MSR Remote 3 – rugged 4-season tent for 3 people (rental product)] and the Slingfin WindSaber 2 person – stormproof alpine tent (both rental products) are ideal. The MSR Remote 3 offers plenty of space for two people plus gear or three people fully occupied, while the Slingfin WindSaber 2 is particularly lightweight and wind-stable if you prefer a more compact 2-person tent.
Especially for unique, challenging tours like climbing Kilimanjaro, it's worthwhile to rent high-quality, tested equipment instead of buying it new and then storing it unused in the basement. This way, you avoid making the wrong purchase, save money, and do something good for the environment at the same time. Every product that is used multiple times conserves resources, reduces waste, and extends the lifespan of valuable outdoor gear. Whether it's a summit night on Kibo or your first ascent in the cloud forest, with Eddy's Adventure's rental model, you travel sustainably without sacrificing quality.
Rent only what you truly need. Experience your adventure consciously. And if you become particularly attached to something: rent first, buy if you like it – for memories that will last.
