This tarp is supplied without poles . You will need either trekking poles to set it up, or you will have to tension the tarp between two fixed points such as trees. This saves weight but requires some know-how and preparation. Less experienced users may find a trial setup before their trip advisable.

Note on temperature perception

Without an enclosed interior, your comfort level depends heavily on the rest of your gear. Your sleeping mat and sleeping bag, in particular, should provide good insulation to ensure a restful night's sleep even in windy conditions and on cold ground.
